you won't be able to bypass incorrect with GWAR, Rammstien, Judas Priest, classics like KISS Led Zeppelin ALice Cooper and Black Sabbath are sturdy to. equipment of a Down, Amon Amarth, Primus, Slayer, Megadeth Deftone and Iron Maiden are real sturdy too. there are distinct diferent type of metallic (ex. Thrasher metallic vs. lack of life metallic) hearken to what you may and note what you want. Im no longer particular if all those above are completely metallic, Its basically the cd's i have were given laying right here.

Danzig, Slayer, early Metallica(before the Black album) and Black Sabbath will get you started. After that, you may wander off to genres within Metal such as speed metal, death metal ,etc.
P.S. Black Sabbath isn't really metal, but without them metal would not exist.

A lot of responses are "hair" bands, not metal. The closes thing to metal I know is Megadeth and Iron Maiden.

I'm more into classic metal, so I would suggest Van Halen, Black Sabbath, AC/DC etc. Yngwie Malmsteen though is incredible, and if he ever tours around you, don't miss it. He is truly a guitar god.
