For those who think it's the other way around, realize that the illiteracy rate in some of our cities is higher than it is in the "red states," and those cities vote overwhelmingly Democratic.

Since the literacy rate in the U.S. is 99%, I really doubt the 1% of citizens that are illiterate are going to be able to help either party. A better way of getting votes would be to try to get the young people, who don't vote nearly as often as older people do, or to convince the undecideds to come over to their side.

I've worked at the polls for 3 years. I've had a number of self proclaimed Democrats complain that I'm not allowed to tell them which candidate represents which party unless that information is printed on the ballot. I've never had a self proclaimed Republican ask the question. Draw your own conclusions.
