Based on the preseason he's having, if he gets a decent amount of playing time, I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 30 homers. He is still above average at the plate, and he's channeling some of that power he had in 1998 when the McGwire-Sosa home run race occured. I do not condone steroids at all, and if he is taking them, which I do not think he is, then he should be suspended indefinitely.

But back to the subject, I think 25-30 homers sounds about right for Slammin' Sammy.

i will say 6. in my opinion he will be a publicity stunt for a while and then i believe the rangers will bench him for a younger player. the rangers have a set infield and they have kenny lofton, frank catalanotto, and brad wilkerson. this will likely have sammy as the dh starting the season. however, on the bench is former met, victor diaz. diaz is only 25 and has never had an opportunity to start but he is a career .260 hitter with 15 homeruns in only 342 ab

with or without corked 'roids, texas is dumb enough to keep the slappin sammy sideshow going just like giving a-rod 50 mill--- he'll break 600 homers lifetime but he'll still be second to that other 'roid in oblivion congress lyin mcgwire, who really cares. These guys don't hold a candle to mickey, hank aaron , ruth or mays etc. ruth, mantle etc did it in a tougher time-- no luxury airplanes, no dillution of talent, just pure talent and they did not play for the big money either.

Unfortunately he will stay around long enough to get the 12 home runs he needs to reach 600 career home runs. After that, who knows? As far as true baseball fans are concerned all chemically enhanced home runs add up to "Zero". I'm surprised that there is such a lack of integrity in the game allowing this cheater the opportunity to achieve his personal goals just to satisfy his own self gratification.

If he was still on Steroids,45-55, but we know that he will not take that chance now that MLB is applying heat to the steroid problem. I would say 36 homeruns would be attainable provided he has a healthy, and productive 2007. Oh yeah, if he corks his bat again those numbers may be even higher. LOL.
