we have checked the antifreeze and we do not have a leak we cleaned the level control that is on the radiator, we was told that the coolant sensor that is in the motor and has one single pigtail wire that plugs into a connector would not cause the light to come on and stay on?

the same thing happened to my grand am and the low coolant sensor is at the bottom of the overflow tank, I asked the mechanic about it and he said to take a rubber hammer and whack the overflow tank a couple of times and it would be ok and the light would go out, he said a piece of dirt has got into the sensor and by whacking the overflow bottle it would free the dirt from the sensor, I thought he was crazy but I tried it and it fixed the problem.

Sounds as if the sensor on the engine as well as the one on the radiator may be bad. Replace them both after the connector wires have been cleaned off with an old tooth brush. When was the last time you had the engine and radiator and heater core completely flushed?
