Agree with Baggyboo.
Delete it..
but you should delete the files in safe mode..
And after deleting it,there still are registry survivor of that anti-virus in your computer registry. You should clean that survivor using regsitry cleaner.
And after cleaning survivor of registry, you can say:I have uninstall that anti-virus completely....
There are some comparisons and reviews of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

It sounds like your Restore Point using System Restore must have been days or weeks old. This does create the problem with the current definitions most likely are now missing in your antivirus program. If you simply performed the "Undo my last Restoration" there should be absolutely no problem. Just reboot once and then while logged on to the internet click "Update" on your antivirus to make sure of the latest definitions. System Restore Points should be set almost daily and older ones deleted in Disk Clean Up maintenance.

If you are attempting to uninstall the antivirus program at the Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and it is giving you an error message saying it cannot uninstall the antivirus program - then it is probably either of two reasons. One is you messed something up and the program software files are corrupted because you may have deleted part of them and this will now involve manually uninstalling the files and registry items. The other more likely reason is that you are probably getting an error message saying something like the "program is active and must be stopped first to uninstall it". That means if the program software is an active running process - it cannot be uninstalled at Add/Remove Programs. It first has to be stopped, and then you can uninstall it with no problem. What to do ? All you need to do is simply right click the program and click "Exit". You want to close the program first so you can uninstall it. If that won't work, open the antivirus program and uncheck any Options that say "Start Up with Windows" - uncheck that so that it will not start up at reboot. Then reboot your machine. Now with the program not starting as a running process you can go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it. Most likely it is the same with trying to reinstall the software - it has to be stopped as a running process first and closed to reinstall the software as it cannot overwrite the files and registry entries of a running process on a reinstall. The program needs to be closed first if it is a running process. If it is free antivirus, most likely the running part of it is at least the "Automatic Updates" option, as it has a set time it "calls" in for a new defintions check for installing. Others may be a mail scan plug in is active.

Hi,
Try this go to the control panel and select "Add & remove programs" then remove the Virus checker this way, if you still can't do it then reinstall the software then try again to remove it.
You should have got AVG free home version with free Updates it's the best Virus checker around and the best thing is it's FREE.

Try to uninstall in Safe Mode or else stop all processes related to the AV before uninstalling.

If it's a Norton/Symantec product:

If it's a McAfee product:

Otherwise try this:
