NO! Spermacide is definately not effective used alone. Its more of a back up method...something to be used with another form of birth control.
If you don't want to use hormone methods like the pill or shots, than use spermacide with a condom, diaphram or the sponge. Even then, there is not birth control option that is 100% effective and some methods are much more relaible than others.
My friend and my sister both got pregnant using just a spermacide, so I would definately visit http://www.sex-ed101.org/birthcontrol/birthcontrol.html
and
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/birth-control-pregnancy/birth-control-4211.htm to research and find a relaible method

For five or six years my husband and I only used the gel spermicide "Ortho Options" and no other form of birth control. It never failed us, and as the box says it's 96% effective. If you can deal with that VERY real 4% chance of pregnancy then use it. Now my hubby is snipped so we can get it on anywhere anytime without a thing which is AWESOME...But the Ortho worked great for us.

It works, better than the pull out method
It works better with an condom and Spermicide
It works the best with a form of birth control, condom and Spermicide
Good luck

It's a good option but nothing is 100% not going to get you knocked up except no sex. Plus this does not prevent the spreading of diseases such as AIDS.

No they are not that effective. If you use spermicide you must use something else with it or you may be wanting to plan for a baby,

Very effective only with the combination of condoms. Do not use only one because you will be taking chances.

Maybe.... but after screwing for awhile I sometimes give my boyfriend head when he loses his hard-on, and don't want that in my mouth. I use a sponge. Hasn't failed me yet.
