The writers Edgar Allan Poe and William Faulkner, on my maternal grandmother's side.
On my maternal grandpa's side, someone who founded the Baptist churches in the South.
I don't know of any "notorious" relatives.....I guess the serial killers must be good at what they're doing, because none have been caught. :)
Now you KNOW, Matticus, and knowledge is power. :)
Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)
p.s.--Matticus is a rockin' name... mind if I consider it for my future children?

lol - funny you mention Lady Godiva....because she actually is in my family background.
John "Son of the bishop" is my great - what ever - grandfather on the side of my mom...Direct descendant. He was called son of the bishop, because he was an illegitimate child of on of lady Godiva's great grandsons, who had gone into the church. - Sold into indentured servitude and forced to work in the tobacco fields of the south when the Americas were first being founded. That's how part of my family line got to America. or so my uncle tells me, and he has all these charts and genealogy studies to back it up.

My great-great-great grandfather General George Minty, captured Jefferson Davis, sadly he is never mentioned in the text books because he had 10 kids with his wife, and 10 with (i think) his wife's sister, or his sister. It was kept a secret until he died when both wives filed for the inheritance.
Related to Lawrence Washington, George Washington's half brother.
I know one was born in Edinburgh castle, not sure, but we're a bunch of crazy Scots,
My Great Grand Father fought in WWI, and wrote a bunch of books after, i know one is "Mike of Company D"
And to some guy who used to cook lobsters on the hood of his car....
And not by blood, but by marriage, Keauna(sp) Reeves

I don't think anyone is famous that I know of, but I know some relatives came over on the Mayflower, plus some of my Italian family is supposedly in the Mafia over in Palermo. My family is notorious for having a very bad temper.

That family history is very interesting! The only one that I have heard about through family members, is that we are related to the "Bartlett" who signed the Declaration of Independence.
