It seems like at all sporting events, there is some guy holding up poster board that has John 3:16 written on it in big letters. Why is this?

I don't mind at all or anything like that, I'm just curious as to why people do this at all sporting events.

So that they can reach many people among spectators at the stadium and in the TV audience to consider the Bible message in the Gospel of St. John, chapter 3, verse 16.

I think a guy a long time ago started @ a NFL game and people have done this since then. In the Bible John 3:16 say "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believe in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life". So If you believe in Jesus you will have eternal life.

It is a bible verse: it is very inspirational
