Yes, in the grocery store. A little boy,18 months or so was crying and his mother kept saying really ugly things to him that no child should hear from anyone -- "shut the f*** up or I'm going to beat you azz" and after that she said other things, pinched him really hard which made him cry more and then she smacked him really hard on the leg and told him see what you made me do to you! I went up to her and said you know you shouldn't talk to kids like that or hit your child, I'm going to call the police and they'll call out child services. She was very rude....duh.....told me to mind my own business and walked away calling me a *****. Well, another lady also saw this and witnessed me confronting the woman. She walked up and said 'the police have already been called with her cell phone in her hand'. When the police got there she was still there and the police talked to her and myself and the other woman who witnessed the entire thing. They saw the pinch marks on the baby plus the hand mark from the hard smack on his leg. They arrested her! The grandmother was called to come pick-up the baby. Come to find out, when we went to court which I was summoned to, she was only 15!! I thought she was at least early 20's. Anyway, no one should EVER talk to a child that way or treat a child in that manner and as a mother myself I feel I am responsible to step-up and try to do something in hopes the child will be better off. The judge awarded custody of the baby to the grandparents and the mother had to go to all kinds of parenting and anger management classes and was put on probation. Hopefully she's doing a better job of parenting now! That was 5 yrs ago.
And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.....it is my business when it comes to innocent children who can't defend themselves against ignorant parents that abuse them!!

Yesterday actually. There was a mom and a little kid and the kid was screaming, crying, and yelling in the parking lot about how he didn't want to go in the store. I was in the parking lot in my vehicle so it got really annoying. This went on for like 15 minutes with the kid screaming and the mom was trying to pretty much drag the kid into the store. I almost went over there to say shut up already and leave the stupid kid at home or leave! People who let there kids act like that are actually treating them badly by letting them get away with that. See this is why I'm an animal lover and don't ever want kids, I can't stand kids.

Yes!
I always see these parents either dragging their children by an arm, being 30 feet infront of the child and not even caring, or yelling at the child over a toy.
It really makes me angry.
One time I was walking out of Wal Mart and a little boy was crying because his mom wouldn't give him a dollar to play a fast arcade game thing. The mother clames she couldn't afford it- yet her bags were full of junk food and stuff for herself.
So I gave the boy a dollar because I don't think children should be treated like crap and I gave the mother the most disquested look ever.
People should not have children if they're going to neglect them.
I use to be very vocal about it and say rude things but my bf doesn't let me anymore- well if they're being really rude to the child I will.

ok, here goes. I have seen kids really bullied by parents in public and it really angers me. I wonder what's happening behind closed doors. AND, let me say that I had my niece one time. We were at Target getting some birthday stuff and she kept throwing stuff in the cart even after I told her not to. She is really spoiled. When I took the stuff out the cart, she started kicking me in the shin and then started to run. I ran after her, left the cart, she is screaming bloody murder about how she hates me, etc. I pick her up, she does stiff body and starts kicking me in the stomach. She's 5 at this point. I loosened my grip when she knocked the breath out of me. She ran out the store, ran out in traffic in the parking lot. Cars screeching and narrowly missing her. When I caught up to her, more of the same. Could not get her in the car.
SO, at this point I am FINISHED. I picked her up in front of God and the world. Go ahead and run the video--go for it. I spanked her butt. She kept at it and I spanked her again. And then a third time before she got in the car and put her seatbelt on. I said no Birthday party and you're going to bed when we get home. 1/2 way home, she said, I'm sorry Auntie. And the rest of the day, the best I have ever seen her act.

When I was a child, I saw a mother with her two children at the BART (rapid transit train) station. She carried her little baby with her to the edge of the station, but told her older child (about 3) to stay on the bench.
Of course the 3 year old followed her, so she yelled at him, PICKED HIM UP BY HIS EARS, and THUMPED him down on the concrete bench.
I will never forget that. If I had been an adult then, I would of had to say something or turn her in. As a child, I was just shocked and frightened.
Well, on a brighter note, Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

Yes....yesterday across the street from my house I heard hysterical screaming...it was so shrill and loud I couldn't understand what the woman was saying... I went to the window to see what was going on....she was screaming at a little girl who was about 4-5 years old and the child was cowering....it made me sick....then she began slapping the child in the head really hard...the little girl began running away and the mother caught her...I saw her hit the child in the face and I called the police...she left before they arrived....she was only visiting and my neighbor pretended not to know what the police were talking about....I hope that mother is found......my children witnessed the whole thing....I had to answer a lot of questions and my 5 year old daughter began to cry....

I have several times, called the cops on 2 of them.
Both times the parents were just in a hurry and not wanting to take the time required to deal with their kids. I see red when I see the child getting slapped because they aren't moving fast enough, or are to small to move at an adult pace.

Yes! I hate it. I was once running a booth at a church fundraiser, and the parents, who I knew(didn't know they could act that way), kept on correcting their kids, I think one started crying and the parent yelled at them. I felt so bad. I had to give out prizes, and the parent basically picked out the prizes for the kids, even though they wanted something else, and was worth the same points. One was 12 and they were really embarrassed, seeing me and all. And on church grounds! I got a really bad sunburn though...

I've seen parents ridicule and scream at their children in the grocery store. It is definitely not the most effective form of parenting. It is either going to turn the kid into a weakling who will never speak up for themselves or turn them into a bully just like their parent!
