I have been having this aching pain in my upper abdominal area and sides for three days now. It has been coming and going but lasts in long periods. Like hour or more then will kinda just stop. Sometimes i feel nausias, and it gets to the point where i can't breathe as good. I got up and took a shower, but it still was very uncomfortable and dint stop. Last night while out on the town i felt ths way, and this morning. Now this morning i had gas and went to the bathroom twice. So my question is, is it contractions, could it be the baby just hurting me because of no room or could it just be gas? This is my first pregnancy and i am 3 days shy of 38 weeks. Im just scared and worried because i dont know what to do or what to expect. I hope someone can help...

It would not be uncommon for it to be contractions, the baby can come at anytime after 35 weeks. If you are really concerned, call your ob and they can help you. Or just go to the ER

it is most likely just gas. what happens is there isnt a whole lot of room between the baby and your intestines. sometimes the gas will get stuck so to speak in your intestines depending which way the baby is laying and will cause pains. now if you had pains and no gas at all, then maybe it would be contractions, but as long as you have gas, you are okay. try to eat foods high in fiber and gassy foods that will help to push the gas through your intestines faster and give you less of a chance of getting those pains. if the pains are that bad, maybe call your doctor and explain to him what is going on and ask him what you can do to relieve the pain. good luck sweetie!

First call your doctor or a labor and delivery nurse at your hospital. They should have told you in your child birth classes what to do if you are concerned. They say that if you are in labor you can have diarrhea, vomiting, etc. It's your body's way of cleaning itself out. Check to see if these pains are contractions by timing them and if they are regular your nurse/doctor will tell you what to do. If they aren't regular you are probably just having braxton hicks contractions, but I think you should call a labor and delivery nurse anyway. Good luck.

Probably gas or Braxton Hicks. You should only worry when the contractions are close together and are coming at regular intervals. Actual Labor Contractions will only get closer and closer and they are hard to mistake! Call your dr if you are worried though!
