Are you categorising them according to current form?
If so....
1.Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the best but there is no doubt that he is class too.
2.Messi is also one of the best, secretly I feel that now he is more valuable than Ronaldinho to Barcelona. (He's younger and is a better finisher, with pace to boot. And his buyout is the same as Ol' Ronny's =85 million pounds.
3. Fabregas and Kaka can start in any team because they are fabulous passers of the ball. They may not be the engine (Steven Gerrard, Gilberto Silva, Vieira) but they distribute the ball well ( Beckham, Alonso).
3.

Whilst I agree with you about Rooney, you have certainly picked a tricky list.
However, we have seen over the years that 'world class players' cannot always adjust to a foreign league (no better example than veron), or they struggle to have the same impact on the international stage (e.g, Johnny Barnes). Therefore I think when choosing a best player, especially a youngster, then they should be able to fit into the above categories.
With this in mind Ive plumped for christiano ronaldo. yes ronaldiniho is probably more talented, but would he have been the same player in the premiership?.
1. c. ronaldo
2. kaka
3. torres
4.cassano
5. ronaldiniho (although he probably shouldn't be there)
6.messi
7.saviola
8. robinho
9. fabregas (because he's a gobby pr*ck)
10. robben (because he's a greedy cheating tw*t)

Messi has the best potential, but we'll have to wait and see.
P.S. No, Ronaldinho isn't "young", but don't forget that Kaka is only 2 years younger. It's not much difference, is it? So Kaka isn't that young either. He should be at his peak too.

They play different positions. So it's difficult to say. I personally would go for Kaka if pushed though, but i would have to say Rooney is equally talented as those players on the list.
