I slid on the ice and went into the other lane and hit a van head on, then another car hit me from behind. My car had to be towed and the back wheel is messed up so it is not drivable. I have a 2006 mercury mariner and the frame might be dented. Does this mean my car will have problems forever? The front isn't badly damaged and that and the bumper will be replaced, but since you can't replace the frame how do they fix that? They towed it to a place thats closed until tuesday so i'm dying to know what is going to happen.

Being a late model vehicle it would have to acquired over $10K in repairs in order for the insurance company to write it off.

With the computerized frame straightening machine on the market today, it's amazing what can be performed, that is if you take it to to a reputable body shop that has this type of equipment. Do your homework before you decide. Get several quotes & ask a lot of questions.

Good Luck

They generally total them if the frame is bent due to the cost of straightening one and the after effects of driving it. However, they do straighten frames so it's anyone's guess at this time! Just have to wait for the adjusters decision and go from there. Also, get your own estimate at a reputable body shop because insurance companies have been known to be less than honest!!!

i own a repair shop and if the damage is too much on it there will be more time and money in repairing it than its worth so they might just total it out,it all depends on the amount of damage it has done to it right now, you,ll know more when they do an estimate on it ,other wise right now i wouldn't worry too much about it,good luck i hope this helps.
