I have lots of books from library sales and I don't want to keep them. Tried asking some books stores but they won't take them.
What do I do?
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba by the way(I don't know if that will help???)

Its hard nowadays to find a place that buys used books, the only advice I could give you is to try selling them privately on places such as e-bay. Then again you can always donate them if you have no luck selling them. GOOD LUCK.

You know, you have many options of what you can do with your many many books. Here are some of the things I have done with my old books:

1. Store them somewhere (basement, garage, etc.) for safe keeping, as I might be interested in reading them in the future.
2. Donate them to places like Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.
3. Donate them to your local school(s)
4. Donate them to your local library (I have done this, and the librarians are very grateful for the gesture)
5. Have a small garage sale, and sell them for a low price (1 dollar, or so)
6. Sell them on e-bay
7. Join a Freecycle program (you can check out my 360 Page, I am a part of my town's freecycle program. Basically, you can give any old or new items you have to people in your city for free, and you can take other people's stuff too)

Remember that one person's trash is another person's treasure. What you find useless or old could be of much value to someone else!

Good luck getting rid of all your books.

=)

Any charitable organization.

You can also try senior citizens homes. Or if you live near a rural area, it might be worth going out to the smaller towns/ villages/ settlements that don't have much of a library and ask them if they'd be interested in book donations.

Big city institutions often get a lot of donations of all kinds, but the smaller towns are just a few miles away and they'd probably be very grateful!

Most antique book stores will take them if the books are in good condition. Take them to your school or place of work and ask if anybody would like to read them.
I always find it very hard to throw a book away, for some reason I feel bad doing that. So I take it to work and people usually take them with them. What they do with them, I don't care. As long as I'm not the one thrashing them.

If you are only interested in having them gone, there are several things you can do.

Donate them to charity.
Hospitals sometimes have libraries.
A Veteran's hospital.
A nursing or old folks home.
A senior center.
A library.
A school library.
Churches sometimes sponsor poor schools.
Have a yard sale.

Of course there is always the recycle route or simply throwing them in the trash.

That should give something to work with. Good luck and try not to trash them. To me, books are one of the most valuable things imaginable. I hate the thought of burning them or having them end up in a landfill.

Go have your own book sale and then if you dont get rid of all the books go to a donation store and drop them off there. And if nothing works then just throw them out

Send them my way! Lol. You could, but really, yo can donate them to a library, or to your nearest Salvation Army... you generally can't get anything back for them, unfortunately, but at least someone else will be able to enjoy them.
Myself, I do the same thing, but I never get rid of them... part of my problem, lol. But as I intend to create my own personal library, it all goes to a good cause. :)

I've sold books on amazon.com and just by having yard sales. It's a good way to weed out the tons of books I've already read and just sit around collecting dust. Plus I get a few extra bucks.

You can try donating them to a local library. Sometimes schools have book fairs for charity and accept donations too.
