i am trying to play a mean guitar but my left hand hurts like a mother. this sucks... i can't stop playing... have to get good... how do i reduce the pain?

I'm pretty sure Hendrix never played with a glove on, so I suggest you avoid that method. If your fingers hurt from contacting the strings, it could be one of two problems, either your hands or the strings. Try replacing your strings with something new and possibly thinner. If that doesn't do it, maybe you are just pushing down too hard. Try easing up on your normal pressure for each note. If that doesn't work, maybe your guitar is not set up well...take it to a professional for a tune-up. Hope this helps.

you have to do hand stretches. If your muscles get cramped too much then you might have to ice and relax your hand. It's like working out your biceps, you have to give them a break otherwise they wont ever grow. So let your hand muscles grow. Just because you don't play for 2 days doesnt mean your not going to play well.

haha, you have the same problem as me!!

Try wearing a glove, it might reduce the pain just a bit

Ask you girlfriend, wife, mother, sister ,somebody for an emery board to smooth you calluses.

grow out your nails.

they work well as picks and they dont callous the skin.
