How do to you colums and rows for tables?

I've tried but I keep messing up. All I want to do is make a table with 3 small boxes in the colum next to it in three rows, but keep the left box as one.

In HTML? Look up colspan and rowspan. In excel or word, highlight the cells then format / cells / merge cells.

right middle
right bottom
