Hi,
we're on baby no.5 and after going overdue on the other 3 am now expert on bringing on labour!! (1 was stillborn at 31wks for those that think my maths needs work!)

Nothing works! Honestly, I think i tried everything!

A lot of things can help but they are mainly a coincidence. Best one i found was booking in for induction and watch your little one arrive naturally the night before!! Millie, our last one, was due to be induced 2:30 pm on the tues, I wanted a home birth but after 12 days was forced to book in for induction. She arrived 11 am that tues morn at home!!

Theres a hormone in the sperm which they say can trigger contractions, as can an orgasm, the chemical reaction in your brain can trigger contractions.
Fresh pineapple, curry and castor oil work by diorrhea (?) causing the contractions - not nice so don't bother - nipple stimulation, not just a quick fiddle, they say an hour on each with a breastpump....um... homeopathic remedy cimic, also get midwife to do a membrane sweep ( i got hubby to do it after the third)
At the end of the day, it'll come when it's ready - annoying but sadly true. The cervix needs the pressure from baby's head to force it open.

Good luck
R x

I've heard that there is a chemical in sperm that actually helps to thin the cervix and that is why they say that sex will help induce labor. But I'm not sure how much I agree with that. My son was 9 days past due and I was having sex with my husband probably 3 times a day to try to induce labor but it never worked. We finally had to schedule an induction because nothing was working.

Theoretically sex helps with dilation because when you orgasm, your body releases oxytocin, the same chemical that dilates your cervix. Of course, orgasming before you begin to dilate is not going to cause you to go into labor, but it may help speed it along once you are... Sex may not be on your mind at that point, so if you feel like it, do it and if not, don't worry about it.

It may not work for you. What works for one person may not speed it along for another. For me it was walking. It was early september and i went to the fair and walked all day, 3 days later i went into labor. I dont know if the walking was the actual cause but some people say that helps.

they are able to't tell precisely - that's an estimate. in the experience that your physique isn't waiting for exertions (and you're no longer fairly seen finished-term till 40 weeks) - no longer something will paintings. you may communicate some membrane sweep at 39-40-one weeks - ask your wellbeing care expert or midwife you may walk extra you may drink crimson rasp leaf tea to make stronger the uterus to coach. it somewhat is it - sorry! whether they medically set off suitable now, there's a stable threat it would not paintings and you have got a c-sect. attempt to attend and see! I even have used castor oil till now - yet i could on no account inform you to. There could be adverse aspects and while you're no longer "waiting" bodily - it won't paintings. you may only get fairly fairly sick and your toddler ought to too. undesirable theory!!!

the sperm has something in it which helps to thin the cervix and the orgasms trigger your uterus to contract hence starting labour. Some people say hot and spicy foods or pineapple but these didn't work for me, the way they work is by giving you the runs which is supposed to make your uterus contract. Walking is a good way to speed up your labour, this worked for me. If you are going to try the sex thing, my friend recommends 'doggy' style!

Good luck!

The reason they suggest sex is because the more relaxed the vagina is the easier it is for it to dilate... this is why when you are induced you are so numb from the drugs your more relaxed and it helps the dilation process... I hope this answers your question... Good Luck !!

I asked my Dr. about that and she laughed and said it doesn't. My mom told me to drink Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. I didn't think it would work, but I went into labor early...who knows. I just think the baby will come when the baby wants to come. Only your baby knows when it's birthday is going to be. Trust me, don't rush it!!!
