You don't say what you mean by unhealthy so I'm going to have to guess that you're experiencing hoarseness. You MIGHT have to see an ENT to determine if there is something going on that's causing problems for you but give these suggestions a week before doing so. I just went through my one and only bout of laryngitis (after 20 years of singing that's not too bad). Most laryngitis is caused by viral infections so no amount of medication is going to do anything for you. If anything, go on complete vocal rest for a few days. No talking and no whispering. Write everything down. Drink a lot of room temperature water (or warmer). More than the standard 8 glasses/8 oz a day. Do not use lemon or regular teas as they are very drying and will increase your fatigue. Go to the store today and buy a tea called Throat Coat. You can find it at the groceries or at the pharmacy. I'd drink about 6-8 cups a day sweetening with honey. Get yourself some slippery elm lozenges while you're at it and don't use lozenges that contain menthol etc., they are very bad for cord inflammation. If things don't ease up in about a week, I would have them checked out. Also, warm washcloth over your throat and steamy showers and baths help relax the cords and the muscles supporting the cords. If I can help more just email me through my profile.
