I just saw that movie. There's some profanity, images of covers of porn magazines, and a brief story about homosexual love. A great site for movie reviews for parents is http://www.kids-in-mind.com. You can look up a movie and it will give you 1 to 10 ratings for sex and nudity, violence, and profanity, along with exact descriptions of the "questionable" parts of the movie.

There are drugs, death, cursing, covers of dirty magazines and a gay character. If those are things you think would freak your 11 year old out, then I would say "No."
But frankly, I think it's only the use of the F word that prevented this from being PG-13. There's no sex scenes or violence of any kind. Also, imagine the 9-year-old star Abigail Breslin saw the movie plenty of times, and she seems very well-adjusted.
I think it's more important that a parent watch and supervise their child when watching a more adult movie, and not leave them to do it alone. That way the child can sense from your behavior and reactions what is acceptable, shocking, not normal, etc. - I think it's unsupervised children, not just children watching R movies, that is more of the problem.

This is sad that the parents of this other kid allowed that. Even adults have had problems after watching it. Don't parents care about what their kids watch anymore? It wasn't a ghost, but a demon, in the movie. Maybe if you spoke with him, telling him that it was just a movie, that it wasn't a true story (like it makes it out to look like). Maybe if he watches upbeat movies, it would keep his mind off of it. Perhaps listening to music at night will help him fall asleep and not worry about the movie. Maybe even sleeping in the living room for a little while, instead of his room would help. I honestly don't know what else would help fix your situation. I'm so sorry your son is going through this.

It's rated R, so you choose if you want your kids to keep asking you to see a rated R movie thinking it's okay. It's a slippery slope, and once a kid thinks that it can see rated R movies, it will think it is okay to do other "adult" things like cuss.

Totally! She'll love it, and the adult humor will just go over her head. I think it gives a good message to young girls that they are beautiful and special no matter what.

Watch it then you decide. I would not let my 11 year old watch it, but all parents are different. You may watch and then decide that she can watch or can not. Especially if you are not sure. You are the parent.

I'd watch it for yourself and decide. I don't know if I'd let my 12-year-old sister watch it.
