I have actually been in the pineridge before. they are not that bad at all. The city is nice. the school system seems to be pretty much in order also. There is a lot to do out there and its close to the major highways so you can get from one place to another with ease.
Its not far from Mentor also (less then 10 miles). Great shopping and fun things to do there also.
If you don't like snow, this may not be the place for you (Ohio for that matter of fact) It is located in what we call the "snow belt". When that lake effect snow comes down off of lake Erie, the snow belt is hit the hardest. if you are not used to it, it can take some time to get accustomed to.
here are some other stats (crime, population, demographics, etc): http://www.city-data.com/city/Willoughby-Ohio.html

I wouldn't be too crazy about Willoughby, but maybe that's just me. Its kind of a bland suburb on the outskirts of the metro area with not a lot going on except for generic architecture, chain restaurants and discount retailers. You'd probably end up driving more considerable distances to go anywhere fun and get quality services.
I'm more of a city person and there are a lot of cool neighborhoods emerging in Cleveland I would find more exciting like the Warehouse District, E.4th, Ohio City, Tremont, Little Italy and Shaker Square. Also, Cleveland Heights and Lakewood have always been great cities for renting in walkable neighborhoods with a lot of character and quality services. But if you really wanted to rent something in a suburban setting I'd stick to Beachwood, University Heights, Rocky River, or Westlake.

My former boss lived in pineridge & he said they weren't worth the money.
As far as Willoughby itself, it's not a bad city, except that nearly everyone there seems to have a racist attitude. I used to live there, and I would often get treated poorly by people of other races. It went both ways: alot of white people there were rude to my black friends. I used to work as a server in Willoughby, and the majority of customers tipped based on whether their server was of the same race as they were. All this disgusted me & that's why I moved out of Willoughby.
