Name recognition and product usefulness.
Get name recognition by using advertising that people will remember, both the commercial and what product it is advertising. There are some really great and funny commercials, but if you can't associate the product with the ad, it is worthless.
Product usefulness is gained by showing people how much better their life will be if they use your product. Insurance companies show you how much less stress you will have by using one of their agents who will show up on site when disaster strikes.

People tend to believe all the BS they see on TV commercials, which are not cheap. So, guess where the funds for advertising comes from...The purchaser of their product, of course.
I do not buy anything that is advertised on TV. NO NAME BRAND is usually made by the same Big Name manufacturer, and costs less than half what the advertised product costs because it isn't advertised, and therefore One isn't paying for those BS commercials.
