Definitely! A few issues I recommend you to consider though:

1. The purpose of your visit. Would you be coming to just have fun, to learn about the culture, to experience Japanese life, to see how Japanese live, etc. If you are coming just to have fun, Yes, it can be very expensive. But if you are into more of the cultural aspect, it is great.

2. When to come. I would recommend the spring, when you can see the Cherry blossoms blooming, and the weather is great. or Fall, when the weather is also great and you can see some of the very cultural events. Unless you like heat, I would not recommend summer, because it gets REALLY hot. Winter, nothing really going on, and it gets really chilling cold.

3. How much money do you want to spend? Japan is a really hard place to visit and wing it. You will really need to plan what you want to do and where you want to go. If you do try to just wing it, you are going to spend up the wazoo for everything. I good plan will save you a lot of money.

These are just a few things to consider before you come.

I live here, but I have stayed a few nights ago in a hostel in Tokyo. Talking to a lot of people from all around the world I found that people coming to Japan do not really want to come back. It is a pitty as Japan is a wonderful country, bu they really lack the ability to communicate in a foreign language. Even the people from the railway station do not know English. As I have said, it a a lovely place to visit, but I would recommend an organised trip, with a guide t6aht knows Japanese and can get around Japan.

It is definitely a cool place if you have the money. I would recommend visiting temples and shrines, downtown areas and Hiroshima Peace Park. I actually studied abroad in Hiroshima and I loved the city. Miyajima is also a really cool place to visit, because the deer will walk right up to you and eat paper out of your bag or try to munch on your shirt. Definitely check out the restaraunts, they are so different than restaraunt culture in America.

Yes, Japan's a great vacation place to visit. In fact, I might be going there from mid-June through mid-August.

Yes it's very nice place for a vacation, people there are so nice especially when your not a japanese. I live there and stay six months at a time for 5 years. Me and my friend love the karaoke box because your in a room singing and nothing there to care who can hear your voice because your in a room that is sound proof and you can scream and dancing, eat, drinking anything you can. Dennis restaurant there is cheap and good. Just riding on a train is a little strange, its just smell bad. Yakiniko restaurant is totaly to die for. Trust me you'll have there. Say Arigato for thank you and domo itashimashite for your welcome. SAYONARA and gambati.

YES.
You might think the Japanese still wear kimono.
Then you will get shocked how modern they are.
Don't miss Tokyo. It can be way more excited even than New York City.
Or you might think Japan is one of the most advanced country.
Then again you will get shocked how much they still have their unique tradition.
Don't miss Kyoto for their old tradition.

In my opinion it is the most beautiful place in the entire world...

Especially in Kyoto in the Spring, during the Cherry Blossom season.

I hope to one day live and hopefully die there...
