You have to understand that some in our government are direct representatives of the people and some are not. Some serve under the rule of law to represent the state and the state interest. This is an important part of American politics because rule by the people is essentially mob rule. The mob can easily be swayed by pandering and half truths. The idea is to have those in positions of power who are there to practice the rule of law or we will have mob rule. Mobs are very dangerous and often represent a vocal minority.

Our country is no longer for the people. The financial and kiss *** aspects of our politics has made it so that you cant get elected to high office if you are decent and honest. I know the problems but I wish I knew the answers. You elect a representative based on larger ideals. It is absolutely impossible for a representative to vote and make everyone happy. Get a group of 8-10 people together and try to agree absolutely on anything. ? Is Ford better than Chevy? BMW,SAAB,Mercedes??
