That depends on where you are located. In the north: radishes, carrots and the like. Trees will take several years to bear fruit. Later in the spring:tomatoes, squash, corn, beans,- basically - anything you want to eat. In the south: strawberries are already out (vines take several years to produce after planting), corn is ready, squash, - again - whatever you like to eat.

I just planted several coconut palms - I'll have coconuts in about 5-6 years. My bananas will take another year or two and the papayas have yet to fruit. What do you like and how long do you want to wait. A call to you local extension agent (remember "Green Acres") will get you all thew 411 about your area that you need.

You will need to consult your Zone map and use this in conjunction with the directions on the seed packages. You do not want to plant before the last frost. (unless you are growing them inside to start with) For trees, you need one that is mature enough to produce fruit. Check local gardening stores for the plants and trees that grow well in your area.

Unless you live in a greenhouse, up here in the north country I'd recommend waiting to plant anything.
