Bambi. So gorgeous and simple, a pre-computer work of art with every delicate frame painted by hand, with the most beautiful love song Disney's ever done (I Bring You A Song), and Disney does great love songs.

The best Disney film ever made would probably be The Little Mermaid. It touched on the same themes as Beauty and the Beast (looks alone aren't enough, she had to talk before Eric was sure she was the one) family is important (should she leave her sisters and father, or be with the man she loves), plus it had amazing music (Kiss the Girl, Part of Your World). It's a fun film everyone can uderstand. I believe it was one of the last movies to be completely hand drawn. I don't think (though I could be wrong) there were any computers used during filming. That NEVER happens anymore! The look of the ocean was so realistic, thirteen years before Finding Nemo! Also, halfway through production, they found some of Walt's original ideas for a movie based on the fairy tale, and his ideas pretty much matched what was being filmed. I think that says quite a bit about why so many recognize it as a return to "Classic Disney", and why it made such an impact on society.

Too many to say just one favorite. Here are a few of mine...

Animated -
The Lion King - I actually saw this one being produced while on my honeymoon in Walt Disney World. Will always have a special meaning for me.

Aladdin - Robin Williams as the Genie is outstanding!

Beauty and the Beast - one of the best Disney love stories ever.

Snow White - the first and still one of the best.

The Incredibles - I think this movie is hysterical

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - when my daughter was little, she and I would watch this almost every day. I think we sang every song in the movie.

Treasure Planet - not much is said about this one. The story of Treasure Island told in space, great movie.

Live Action -
Pirates of the Caribbean - Capt. Jack Sparrow is the best part of these movies, and my kids and I can't wait for #3.

The Apple Dumpling Gang - one of my favorites growing up.

The Santa Clause - I am a big Tim Allen fan. I liked all three of them.

20,000 Leagues under the Sea - definitely in the team photo.

So many more, so little time! I have so many more, but I don't want to take up too much room.

Toy Story
Beauty and the Beast
The Lion King
The Many Adventures of Winnie-The-Pooh
Lady and the Tramp
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Pinocchio
Hercules
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Aladdin

They all are so good, it's hard to narrow it down to one. Mulan has always been special to me. It's empowering to girls. It's not the typical prince rescuing the damsel in distress. Mulan saves China and then she gets the guy. It's very touching how Mulan is willing to risk everything to take her fathers place so he doesn't have to go to war. Eddie Murphy is hilarious, as always. Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2 are some of my favorite movies as well. Love Johnny Depp! Can't wait for the third! I just love all Disney movies. They all are inspiring and fun.

Cinderella (Rogers and Hammerstein version): The classic story with GREAT music (Are you really as wonderful as you seem?), an AMAZING cast (Brandy, Bernadette Peters, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber...), and beautiful costumes...

also:

Pocahontas: This movie again has great music, as well as a good speaking cast (Mel Gibson included)...and the storyline of true love and all is just fabulous...(If I never knew you...I'd be lost and so confused...)

and finally:

Beauty and the Beast: ALL TIME FAVORITE. It is just such a great story, with good music, and of course the love theme again...Angela Lansbury is amazing...and who doesn't fall in love with the beast when they see how he changes! (New...and a bit alarming, who'd have ever thought that this could be? True, that he's no Prince Charming, but there's something in him I simply didn't see...)

Beauty and the Beast.

It at least has some morale in it, that is easy for kids to grasp. In fact I still remember the first time I watched it when I was a kid. I can not say the same for the others.

Beauty and the Beast---- The whole idea that the daughter sacrificed herself for her father b/c she loved him that much. And then she looked past the beast to see who he was and everyone lived happily ever after. Only if real life was like that!!!
