well a lot of people are tools...
a large number of liberals and especially far left ones run a lot of media, if you dont believe me go do some research on it. you will end up backing me on that.
thats not to say that they are bad people but they use the media to push their own beliefs and ideas, thats bad.
ever watch the show ER? they push their hidden agenda all the time while pretending to be so middle of the road. lots of tv and media push the political agendas of the rich jews (dont take offense but do the research and you will see more than 70% of the media is run by self proclaimed powerful "jews"). i have no problem with anyone being jewish or rich but when you try and covertly try to brainwash me with your tools (media) than i get annoyed...

How very true, and some people are more gullible than others. I think that most of the media are a little left of centre, and that, in my experience, tends to be reflected in the opinions of most of the people I speak to, and many users on this site. People seem to regurgitate what they read and hear from the printed media and TV, devoid, it would seem, of any capacity for critical analysis.
But, I share your fear, they are very powerful indoctrinating vehicles, particularly TV, because it is so powerful a medium, and can use very subtle techniques.
It isn't just about facts, it is about the spin that is put on those facts (how they are presented). Also, crucially, it is about opinions and whether you support, say, government policy on a particular issue.

Look at 2 opposing sources in the media-such as FOX news and Al-Jazeera.
Listen to both their versions of an event.Work on the basis that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I do not think we believe everything that the media reports. However the Media is well placed to offer reasons and photographs with quotes to support their stories. Hence they could influence opinion strongly.

I don't believe everything the media says. To find out the real facts you have to do the research yourself, ask questions.

so how else would we have known about the attacks in the US
basically, not everything is a lie
if you want the truth, buy a broadsheet newspaper like the guardian where they seperate fact from fiction

We never know what the truth is. But I think that's hard for some people to believe that others are so untrustworthy. They would lose some of their human spirit if they didn't have someone (-thing) to believe is telling them the truth.

Do not assume that there is some collective 'they' who wish to force their opinions on us. Of course the press etc are biased, but all in their own way. The trick is to collect information from as many sources as possible so that even if you can't ascertain the truth, you are at least well informed about the possible alternatives.

Don't confuse truths with facts. Two people can look at the same thing and have totally different opinions about it. Thats why eye witnesses aren't considered to be 100% reliable.

So many people don't read and get their news on 30 second sound bites. So they believe everything they hear on TV and radio.
