dose any one know if a newer model rearend (like a 2000? yearmodel) would enter change with out a lot trouble i want to
do this because i would have disk brakes on the back or has any one ever tryed to swap the body of a 1987 to a newer frame this is a pickup shortwheel base stepside im fixing up
any info will be helpfull thanks

The rear end would probably fit but if you're converting from drum to disk brakes you will probably have to change the brake proportioning valve and maybe the master cylinder.

Just pull out your tape measure and measure the space between the spring centers. If the same should be a bolt in job. They make disk brake kits for the rear of your 87. Just do search. Most use the rotors and calipers that are on the front axle of the k series (4x4). I don't know if they are the same as on c series trucks (2x4). You may go to www.primedia.com and link to one of thier truck magazines where you could do a easy search for an article on this.

The rear end should interchange with little problem. You will also need to change the brake master cylinder and proportioning valve for the disc brakes. You might also have to change the drive shaft or u-joint at the rear end. The 1987 parking brake cable will not work with disc brakes so you will need to change those also.
