I am interested in the Buddha religion and wondering if anyone is Buddha, practices Buddha, or can tell me a bit more about the religion. What is it you practice, and why did you either chose to practice, or if you were born into the religion, do you continue to practice?

Buddhism is practised by Buddhists.
Buddha was a Hindu King who renounced his wife child and kingdom to seek the truth which he assumed will save human beings from sufferings of sickness, old age, and death.

Buddhism teaches us to follow the middle path by avoiding over indulgence in luxury because there is not end to our desires and also avoides in penances practised by the Hindu saints in those days.
This is reasoned as follows, as long as we live we will have desires, we cannot rid of our desires, what we can do is to control our desires and this is the middle path.

Then there is a code of conduct for the laymen (and laywomen) to follow. Think well of yourself and your surroundings, Speak so and finally Practice so, this will result in the overall wellbeing of the universe. This was the ultimate desire of Buddha. He sought and had found the answers - got enlightment - while meditating under the banyan tree - 7 years after he had left his kingdom in the middle of a night.

There are another eight fold path - somewhat similar to the 10 commandments.

Buddhists need not be born Buddhist - people can convert to Buddhism by being ordained as Monks and then can live as Buddhists. As the religion is not strict and following it is quite simple, people can call themselves Buddhists without putting any effort in practicing the religion - I mean even if you do not go to the temple or do daily prayers, or dress in any particular manner you can still be a good buddhist....

Hope I have answered some of your questions.

I, too have had an interest in Buddhism. I know only a little about it. I think, I think I once had a Buddha like thought, completely separate from any thought of the "religion" called Buddhaism. It was: Don't love anything (not people) so much that losing it would cause you pain. I think of this as a Buddhist thought. Don't know for sure if it is

I follow the philosophy of buddhism quite a bit, but I reject all religions. Make sure you know which aspect appeals to you, religion, philo, or both.
