Well, there are several php/mysql based CMS (content management systems) that can be used to build a directory site. These are actually full programs. Since php by definition is an active code there has to be more than just a template (templates just affect the appearance of the site not how it works)

Have a look at any of these they are all opensource items
and made for linux.

Many web hosts include these are part of an auto instal package (Mine does and yes I host sites).

PHP can work on many machines including windows. So, it doesn't really matter where you are going to use it!

The most important is that what are your needs? Different types of directory has it's own advantage and disadvantage. The best one I had seen CMS perhaps doesn't meet your needs. Here you can find more of those: opensourcecms.com

And also, what do you actually mean by website template? To me, it seems that you are looking for content management system (CMS). A web template is a webpage layout which is built under Object Oriented Programming rules! Means that the scripts to run your website is completely seperated from your web design. So that, no matter how you want to change your website layout, you don't have to edit the scripts. While CMS is a system that is used to handle your small business directory.

Whatever it is, both website template or CMS can be installed on your UNIX machine easily ;)
Cheers
