or not? Why should it bother you that it could become a defacto identity card?

I really don't understand why people are getting so distressed bout it. I mean, they scream "It infringes on our privacy", but what do you suppose it is that they need to keep so private???

Well, it's not about what the government says its going to do with it. It's about what the government could potentially do (and what public servants might do). It will have a photo, so it is not an "access card", it will be an identity card -and one that everyone will have to have. They say it is not compulsory, but if you want to go to a doctor you will need one.

The ways such a system could be abused are endless.
