We're supposed to make a short movie featuring a family coping with cultural differences and the potential problems they may face. What kinds of things would they face? Any suggestions???

Going to a restaurant would be a problem. Food and etiquette would be different. School, of course. Imagine a child from Iraq coming to a school in the US. Clothing also would be a problem. They would be used to what they are wearing, which would could be outlandish to the new country. And of course, laws, licenses for various things, taxes would be different. When my sisters went to Italy, they were appalled at an outside restaurant. They were just passing by and one sister put her purse on a table to get something out. The owner raced over and threw a fit in Italian (which she understood very little of). Eventually, she discovered that using a table requires a payment, even if you just put your purse down. Being from the US, she didn't know this. She was angry, embarrassed and insulted. The owner was angry and felt she had stolen from him. So she threw some money on the table and said "Here, for a whole 60 seconds of your precious table's time!". And it was a lack of understanding of a country's culture that caused it. Italians know the procedure, others don't. Trying to find the food you're accustomed to eating might be hard. I've read of Americans in foreign countries having a hard time find what they know how to cook. Same could be said for those coming here from a foreign country.
