You are doing great so far. Keep the room cool, but no cold. Babies have a harder time breathing when the room is too warm. That is the first thing my doc said when my baby got sick last time......cool room, humid air.
But the humidifier needs to be on when she is in the room. Can you try to put the monitor really far away from the humidifier? I had to do that in order to hear mine, but at least they were both on.
Keep her hydrated. Really push fluids, as they will help her body thin out the mucus and make it easier to deal with. My baby would refuse to drink anything, so I would draw up her baby water or water/juice mix in a medicine dropped and give her that 5ml at a time. There are 30ml in an ounce and you want her to take in about an ounce per hour, at the minimum.
When she is actively coughing, percussion her lungs.....that is, pat her back like you are burping her. Start at her waist and pat up to her shoulders. Stop, go back to her waist and do it again. do NOT pat going down, just as you come up. Doing this while she coughs helps loosen the stuff in here and make her coughs more productive.
Also you can use Johnson/Johnson vapor bath. It is wonderful. I had a cold the last time my baby did and just breathing it in while bathing her made me feel better. It is very effective. They also make the Johnson/Johnson vapor cream. You can put that on her chest, neck, and back. It works wonders too.
Good luck!

RE:
My 6 month old has a cold?
My 6 month old has had a cold now for about 2 weeks. I took her to our Dr and gave her an inhaler. Since she has started taking it, her cold has come on full force. She has never had a fever with this cold. She is not eating as much, but she is still eating and drinking. She does have a cough. Can...

I use benelyne infant drops. There are two kinds that you can use one is a decongestant and for a cold and the other is for cough and nasal congestion.
I've used them both on my little one when she was sick over the holidays. She started with congestion and then with the cough. Both worked great. Well as well as medication can work.
There's also a bath time soothing vapors (sort of like putting vicks in their bath) that you can use. Awesome, bring lots of kleenex or have a face cloth ready just for her nose. Cause the nose will run!
Other than that there's nothing much you can do. If it does get worse or if it doesn't go away soon go and see you Dr again. There might be something else that he can give her.
best of luck and I hope your little one will feel beter soon!

Well, first off, I'm surprised the doc didn't perscribe a cough medicine of some sort. My son has been very sick and he was never on an inhaler. A breathing machine, but never an inhaler. Secondly, the only way that vaporizor is going to help your daughter is if it's on when she's in there. You could also try taking her into a steamy bathroom if it's a congested cough. I know that's what doc's suggest for croup, but it can't hurt to try. You could always take her to a different doctor, or even to the E.R. if you get too concerned. Keep in mind, too, that colds take a while to go a way.

one thing you need to do is get that baby warm.. not a cold room. she could get pneumonia if it is too cold. she needs to be warm.
second thing you can do, is get some Mentholatum rub and rub her chest every night to help her breath. or put it in a vaporizer to mist the air with the Mentholatum.
Third you can by some triaminic cough syrup and some children's Tylenol to help her with her aches and pains. Plenty of water will help her to clear out her chest and her blood of any infections. bless the water if you have the faith in your belief before giving it to your baby. you can do this yourself. it is a known proven fact that if you bless your water with good intentions, like for instance to bless the water with the power to heal your baby. it will change it's molecular make up and clear itself into some awesome looking crystallines.. if you could see it under a microscope that is.
but it will work if you do this.. bless it, give it to your baby with good intent. and watch how fast she heals up from that nasty cold. Good luck, I hope she gets feeling better,
oh one more thing..
the one thing that your doing that is the best thing any mother could do, Is love her.. your doing a great job at that. take care now!

You're going to think I'm nuts....yes, I know that's my name but still......Take the cap from your hydrogen peroxide bottle and pour some into it and pour a bit into your child's ears one at a time and let the gunk bubble out and she'll feel better.

children take time to recover from cold because 1- their immune system is not full power, 2- they don't and can't take medicines... try to give her worm bath and take care after that from the breeze...good luck.
