I have always feared that a lot of money (in the millions) from a lottery win will only change my life for the worse. The last show on oprah confirmed it. It was about 5 different people who won a lottery or got an inheritance and suddenly became millionaires. They all were worse off for it. One of the people was a homeless man who after he won and lost all the money ended up homeless again and in debt. How sad is that? It tells me a few things:
1. My financial situation is the way it is for a reason. A million dollars will not change it permanently. Changing my attitude towards the money that i have, how i spend and how i go about trying to make more money is what makes the difference. it's like the story of people who gain another addictions like alcohol, drugs etc after gastric bypass. The food was only a symptom, not the problem
2. But if i did win a few millions. I will not tell ANYONE. Not even my family but i will help them. I will invest most of it. I will not change my lifestyle significantly although my closet will have to make room for at least 2 pairs of manolo blaniks. I will start masterminding my plans to do what oprah did, build a girls school in africa or at least spend it towards educating girls about their rights
3. I will not quit my job. It is part of my identity and after coming very close to loosing my career at least 2 times, i have come to realize how much it means to me. I will not work less either, but i will open my own practice instead of working for someone else
4. Oh and i failed to mention, pay my credit cards and forever say adios to their annoying monthly bill statements

In order, this is what I would do:

1. Pay my bills.
2. Buy a healthy, good-looking vehicle.
3. Get a complete physical test.
4. Book a cruise ticket from New York to Europe into the Mediterranean, down to South Africa, around to the Indian coast, around the Fiji islands, stop by Hawaii, reach Ketchikan, Alaska, down to California, head down south to South America, up to the Gulf of Mexico, and finish in Florida.
5. Invest 250,000.
6. Pay for four different degrees: automotive engineering, business law, environmental science, and biology.
7. Live in Berlin.
8. Take a year off.

I would build a new safe home for our local crisis center for abused women (and men). I would buy a weird house in the mountains, not a huge house just different with good heating and an art studio/photography studio. I would go to England and Scotland and Ireland and Disney World.

If I had a million dollar, first i would spend it to my schooling (which is my huge problem right now), and of course as well as my siblings schooling.
Second, probably help somebody who really needs it like I need it now.
3rd, travel. I love to travel but going to the different parts of the world needs a huge budget, that's why if i had a million dollar I would do that.

Pay off all the bills, send my kids to college, fix up the house, hire someone to run it for me, go back to school myself, hire a personal trainer and a chef to help me lose some weight, go on a vacation, buy my husband and my son new cars that run, and give the rest away.

Buy that nice house along the lake that I've always wanted. Put enough away for my grandkids to go to college. And donate anything left over to AIDS research.

Me? I would build myself a little cottage on the bank of a river, not too far from the sea, eat fruits, nuts, and veggies, everyday, and bake myself a kazillion chocolate chip cookies every full moon, until I die.
