100 years ago people had no access to instant information (No radio, no tv, no internet). The most important invention(s) are those that have created instant access to information. I don't think that we as a species have begun to understand the long term impacts of this. There are positives, for sure, and there are negatives as well. There are probably long term (not in our lifetimes) evolutionary consequences as our brains and bodies change to process more information more effectively, with less physical exercise and exertion.

When you say important invention, that means men can't live without....
I won't say computer or internet. These things, many undevelop countries still don't have access to or people have no money will not have chance to touch it.
But I would say "Toilet" is the most important one. think about it, you sit there and get the human waste out in a comfort way. This invention is a necessary to every household now!!

I'm not sure you would call it an invention but I think the most important discovery of our life time would have to be Penicillin, other than that my vote would have to go to the Automatic Washing Machine

Not invention per se, but the ability to generate electricity. Second would be the light bulb. If you think about it, nothing has changed our lives (lifestyles) as much as the simple light bulb.
