I am trying to get into medical school, however, the mcat is holding me back. I took the test 2 times and scored about the same. The first time I studied with a prep course, the second time I had a private tutor and studied by myself. I spoke with the dean of admissions at the school I want to go to and he said I should take the test again, since everything else on my application is strong. He said there must be a problem with my technique since I scored the same thing on my ACT. I did take many practice exams (over 30) and looked them over with great detail after, but for some reason I am having a hard time with it. I tried many different techniques. Do you know of any ways to increase performance with standardized tests in general? Why is it that some people can do well with minimal studying while some people like me work their butts off with no success? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Use a stubby pencil to fill in bubbles so it saves time. Distract other test takers so the curve might be easier.
And most importantly, read Up Your Score.

u can't study for the mcat like you can the dat or pcat. b/c the mcat tests critical thinking more than knowledge... scores don't change much. take the dat where it's just memory tested. mucho easier
