Glass is an amorphous solid.

When glass breaks, it forms shards that are uneven, jagged and can cut you. Crystallines don't do that because of their ordered structured.

If you ever looked at salt (a crystalline) in a microscope, you'd see that it forms a near perfect cube. Try breaking the salt in half with a knife or other sharp tool. You'll see that it will remain a near perfect cube!

Glass won't do this, because of it's unordered structure. I wouldn't recommend breaking glass, due to the risks of injury!!!!!!!!!
