No. Elizabeth I survived because she was so remarkably adept at avoiding making decisions until the last possible moment.

Being "quick witted" is different than answering questions quickly. I think when it comes to answering a serious question, listening and thinking the question through critically is more important than trying to be the first one to give an answer. But, wit does require one to think fast, that's what makes it witty. Replying with a witty remark is all about the timing.

Good question and one I've often thought about. I think the answer nowadays is YES. We're in the mode of instant gratification...which is a shame because a little more "thought" should be added to our responses and thought and contemplation takes time. We've become a reactionary, knee-jerk society.

I suppose quick-to-answer sometimes comes in handy, but I believe that the contents of the answer are more important.

Haven't you ever heard the old saying, "Think before you speak"? It's what comes out of your mouth that's important, not how fast it comes out. Slow down. God gave us two ears but only one mouth, so He must have thought hearing was more important.

Even I think this is true. Its not your looks, education etc but how fast you can think on your feet. How articulate you are...how much you can convince ppl by your words
