I am 12 weeks and one day pregnant. I have been having spotting brown and cramping off and on pretty much my whole pregnancy. I also have a blood clot in my uterus (not sure if that has anything to do with this). Now my spotting has turned red and my cramps are getting worse. They're even in my lower back. I called the midwife that was on call because it is the weekend and she just told me to call back if I was bleeding enough to fill a pad. But during a visit my doctor told me to call if my spotting turned red, so I did and that's all they said. Is this normal? The midwife on call that I talked to just acted like I was wasting her time when I was only doing what I was instructed to do. I don't know what to do! Any advice?

If all else fails, go to the E.R. Bleeding in pregnancy is never good, especially when it's red and accompanied by pain. You need to go to a hospital and get checked out. Better safe than sorry.

You need to call! If it is worse or red call so do that. You need to go to the emergency room now and who cares is you are waisting her time or not that is what she is there for. Would you rather loose the baby or waist some of her time( not a hard question) I would suggest you change midwives or doc's!! I did the same thing in my preg. and yes the blood clot in the uterus is why this is doing it. It is probably red and more now because the clot is breaking up more and more but you need to be for sure!!!

spotting is usually ok in pregnancy nothing to worry about, but with cramping too and the color has changed id go to hospital straight away hun dont want to worry you but it doesn't sound good

please go and good luck

did a search and found this hun so sorry

Vaginal spotting or bleeding is generally the first symptom, followed by abdominal pain a few hours to a few days later.

The bleeding may be light or heavy. The pain may feel crampy or persistent, mild or sharp, and may feel more like low back pain or pelvic pressure.

Call your practitioner if you have signs of a miscarriage. If you have severe pain or heavy bleeding, you need to be seen immediately.

Forget your midwife. Especially if she is making you feel like you are waisting her time. They should never make you feel that way. Call a doctor or a nurse. You are right to feel worried. See if your insurance card has a 24 hour nurse hotline or if your local hospital has a nurse you can talk to. If they suggest you go to the hospital to get checked out then go. Good luck.

This really sucks, go to the er, if you're uncomfortable it's your right to worry. It may benothing, but you're being a great mommy to be by already taking action for your child. The nurse should understand, I don't know why she's being rude. You are not wasting anyones time, people call the hosp and go there all day worried about what you're worried about, sometimes it' nothing and sometimes its something. So do what you think, go to the ER and I wish u the best! Goodluck!

cramping is normal but if it becomes unbearable then it's not normal. And bleeding isnt normal either did you have sex right before because sometimes that can cause spotting either way I suggest you go to the hospital and tell them that you are cramping and spotting they will examine you and probably give you an ultrasound to make sure the baby is ok Good luck to you!
Go to the hospital!!Take care

please dont say that doctors are no help because i am a doctor!!! your MIDWIFE is no help. anyways i feel you should go to the ER asap because from my experience bleeding + cramping= not good. even if its nothing, its better to be safe than sorry. as far as your midwife, at your next dr appt speak to the DOCTOR about what your midwife has done and if they don't do anything about it i suggest you find a different doctor!

GO TO THE ER NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If your midwife or doctor won't help, get there NOW!!! Cramping and bleeding, sounds like a miscarriage. I'm sorry, but that's what it sounds like to me. I spotted early on in 2 of my pregnancies, but it only lasted about half a day, and there was no pain. GO NOW!!!
