What was it about World War 2 that gave America its post-war prosperity? I'd just like to hear what you all hav eto say. And if you have any good sources, I'd appreciate it. I'm going to be writing a research paper on this. Thanks.

We just covered this in my American history class.

The shift to a wartime economy brought America out of the Depression. Rationing during the war prevented people from spending as much, hence they had more savings to buy goods after the war. The GI Bill helped in many ways, but I'll let you look that up.

Well for one thing did you ever hear about factories in America being bombed during WW2, how about American cities, were the obliderated like Dresden or say Hiroshima? The answer is no, American cities and infrastructure such as factories survived without being touched. On the other hand Europe and parts of Asia did not fare so well, so if they needed anything guess who supplied them....American industry. Of course there are other domestic factors which fueled the United States post WWII economic boom. The best sources for this type of information can be found at the library, be cautious of any website you read, and please don't base your research paper off what people write here.

Go to the library and do your research.. If you are only looking at the financial benefits, I am certain that the members here can provide you with ample sources.

Ask yourself is America really a better place to live. In comparison to what?????

Are you talking abour merely prosperity, or quality of life. Safety, freedom, security and or independence?

Then shouldn't you be doing REAL research instead of gathering opinions from around the world?
Don't look so much to the war as to the time period prior...the dirty 30's...and how far reaching was that?US only or globally?
Wars are for politicians.
