Well, ya' learn something new everyday. Thanx for spreading the knowledge. Still if inflammable means flammable...what is the word for WONT catch a fire? non-flammable?

Indeed, the 60's a gasoline tanker truck, or a cleaning product label would say Imflammable which meant capable of burning. Too many illiterate idiots in this life, I suppose, and the regulatory powers that be mandated highly flammable materials would be labeled as flammable.

inflammable means it will internally combust, flammable is externally i think??

basically the 'in' is an adjective (description) of any flammable substance's....

but dosn't inflammable mean untouchable in certain text??

Yes. The two words mean exactly the same thing and one can be used in place of the other.It all came about when English as a language was being constructed from Latin and other sources.Both words mean easily combustible.

think your meant to use flammable....and..non- flammable...i agree does sound funny...

Flammable means it can catch fire imflammable means it wont catch fire.
