They can see a baby and see a heartbeat, but not hear a heartbeat. And it doesn't look anything like a baby, just a scribble. I had my 1st ultrasound at 6 weeks.

I had bleeding at 5 weeks in my second pregnancy. In order to rule out miscarraige I had to go to the Dr office for an ultrasound every day until they confirmed a heartbeat. They finally saw it at 6 1/2 weeks. That was a long 9 days!!

Yes, its very small thought. Sometimes the best ultrasound is a vaginal one because the baby is so small
