The only people who can kick Alex Salmond and the SNP out of politics are the voters of Scotland.
In my analysis, the SNP is becoming more popular by default. Labour has betrayed the left by following Blair and the "New Labour" right-wingers. Tories are never to be forgiven the Poll Tax, at least in living memory.
This leaves the Liberal Democrats and the SNP. The Lib Dems have been tarnished somewhat by being in coalition with Labour but on the flip-side of that it was the Lib Dems who got through policies like no student fees for Scottish students, free eye tests and free care for the elderly, none of which occurs south of the border.
It seems to me that out of the three major parties that favour the continuation of the Union, the Lib Dems are the most in tune with Scottish sensibilities (Iraq War, Trident, environment, social policy etc) so they seem the best bet to follow come the May elections.

I am aware that a high proportion of Scots do not want the Independence package being offered to them by the Scottish Nationalists and Alex Salmond.
Let's look at England. It's population makes up over 85% of the total of UK. For the most part, these people classify themselves as English [Anglo Saxon]. People in Scotland should know by now that there is growing 'fury' among this massive army of Anglo Saxons. They see their tax money being syphoned off into the bottomless pit of Scotland. If Scotland is mad enough to go down the Independence road, the English will not only cut off the money supply, they will see to it that no Scot ever sits in the House of Commons and will turn it into an English Parliament.
I wish to assure you and all of Scotland that I hold you very dear in my heart. I am not English, I am Welsh. I have lived in England all of my life and was born in it. I know the English very well. They are very slow to anger but I should give you a warning that the small flame is not very far from the explosive.
Alex Salmond, if you are reading this - take note. You and your party are on a hiding to nothing. Your intolerance of the English will be remembered and turned against you.

As the present Government is propped up by Welsh and Scottish MP's and that they are quite happily ripping off England, we still pay for everything and some things that we did not, while the Welsh and Scots are getting health, education etc free. So the cry for the country to be dismantled is now comming from England to remove the likes of Brown from our parliament. also the majority of English want to leave the gravytrain that is Brussels.

We all benefit from the Union if divided into Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland future generations would suffer for a long time, though it is likely eventually all would grow very strong with the technology that is around today, but why put future generations through such difficulty over events that occurred 100's of years ago??

Sorry you are wrong to demonise Alex Salmond. He's is representing a point of view that must be heard for democracy to survive. Argue against him all you like but he as a point of view, that deserves to be considered.
