It does increase your chances of having twins. I just found out I was having twins recently so I have done some research. I am having identical twins, which seems to be more random and related to luck. Fraternal twins is passed on from on generation to the next. Fraternal twins is caused by hyperstimulation of the ovaries (releasing more than one egg) and can be genetic. It is passed on the woman's side (men have nothing to do with this.) So if you were to marry a man that has twins in his family, your chances would remain the same. I hope this makes sense. If you want twins, good luck. But I have also heard the skipping a generation lore. Most of the twins I went to school with did not have twins when they had babies. So I don't know how exactly it works, I think your chances are increased, but it doesn't mean your are going to have them.

The odds of having multiples are influenced by many factors, and twinning rates have changed throughout the years due to some of those factors Among general populations, the chances of having twins in the 21st century are about 3 in 100, or about 3%. Your chances are better than ever; researchers have recorded an increase of nearly 60% since the early 1980s. The most recent statistics, part of a 2001 study by the National Center for Health Statistics show that twins represented 30.1 of every 1,000 births.

your chances ARE in fact higher. I don't know the exact ratio, but being an identical twin myself I have learned just about everything there is about twins. I also do not know however, whether there is an increased chance for both fraternal and Identical twins.

Your chances are higher I believe about 3% more. It has a lot to do about your body too, though.
