The difference between a liar and a trickster is that a liar deliberatly tries to mislead you and a trickster aims to confuse you. Someone who tells you a lie does so with the aim of keeping the truth from you, and usually they do this for a reason. A trickster does so for their own sense of satisfaction. Don't trust either of them though, or at least do so with a pinch of salt!

I don't trust either type. I don't like anyone who deceived the truth period. I've had too many bad experiences with both groups and I just don't have any reason to trust either or even give them the time of day. Dishonesty is a horrible trait and the sooner more people realize this, the better off we all will be. A liar, lies about the truth. A tricky person skirts around the issue. Either way, when it comes down to who you want when you need someone - neither, can't depend on either to help you out. Most people with these traits do it all the time and don't know the difference anymore. No thanks, can't be bothered.

A liar is someone who intentionally hides a truth by giving false information or withholding pertinent information. They intentionally mislead the listener with the goal to make that person believe them. Someone who likes to play jokes on other people is expressing their sense of humour. Sometimes it backfires on them but it doesn't make them untrustworthy, per se.

The difference between the 2 is the question of morality. Remember, also, a liar is not necessarily believed because s/he is so good at it but because the listener wants so desperately to believe in that person.

If you mean by "tricky person", someone that tells you a load of bull peice of advice so that you'll screw up gloriously should you follow it??
No difference.
If the joker can only perform jokes that solely leaves themselves laughing but no one else? That's a liar AND an a**hole.
