You mean the exchange rate - as in 1 pound sterling is worth X US $?
Or do you mean how do you actually do it. You can exchange currencies based on the current exchange rate at most banks and there are exchange locations at all international airports. I know Heathrow has them after you pass through customs/security into the duty free "shopping mall".

The currencies fluctuate on a daily basis. But you can use the tools provided on the net such as Yahoo to convert one currency to another. Your bank might be another source, however they might charge your a fee if you actually trying to change the currency itself.

1 GBP is equals to US$1.93. What you need to do is take the amount of XXX GBP and multiple by 1.93 and you'll get the US$ equivalent. However, do bear in mind that rates change everyday.
