There is no amtrak service to Kokomo. You can go from Naperville (station code NPV) to Chicago (a few hours wait) then a train to Lafayette (station code LFT) or Indianapolis (station code IND).

Small world -- I grew up in Kokomo and now live in Glen Ellyn north of Naperville. Yep no direct train by any means.

Trains to Chicago are pretty easy to get. You might consider busses from Chicago to Kokomo. Busses are more regular and you will likely get there sooner.

First option:
- Amtrak or Metra from Naperville to Union Station.
- Amtrak to Indianapolis, either stop in Lafayette or go on to Indy.
- Bus or taxi to Kokomo from LAF or IND.

The Amtrak to Indy -- the Cardinal Express -- does not run every day and it leaves Chicago at 745 pm and arrives at Indy around 1245 am. It is $20 one way or $18 with AAA discount. Because it arrives so late is why you might consider going on to Indy where you can wait for a bus the next morning. I am not familiar with the LAfayette station and whether there is bus service from there but I would be surprised if not though Indy might have more breakfast places around.

I've used this a few times to get to my in laws in Indy. You will feel frustrated because the train gets out of Chicago and just sits there for an hour. What is a 3.5 hour trip by car takes over 5 hours by Amtrak.

There is one other option with trains -- from Union Station take the CTA to Randolph St. get off and go to the Metra Randolph St station and take the South Shore from Randolph Street to South Bend. Then get a bus from there to Kokomo. That is probably faster as South Shore trains are much more frequent. And the South Bend airport is catually called the Michiana Regional Transportation Center because it is an airport, train station, and bus station.

See the links below for your options. And if you're looking for things to do in Kokomo feel free to write me. Good luck!
