Salt water bleaches things out. I would try using Woollite Dark if they are darker jeans that you don't want to fade. I've had good luck with it.

Wash your jeans inside out in warm water. Once you are done with the wash dry them for a little bit maybe 15 minutes in the dryer. After that let them air dry. I have a pair a blue jeans that I bought 3 months ago and they look like new. Try it.

The best advice I have had was when I bought a new quilt from Branson, Missouri. Their instructions for the 'first' wash to keep the colors tight was to wash in a cup of salt and a cup of vinegar. It worked grand for me and the quilt.

you may have them dry wiped clean. i be conscious of someone who used to attempt this so the colour doesn't fade. in case you do device wash, shop doing it interior out and use a comfortable, short cycle. All that agitation makes them rub at the same time and that fades the colour.

Growing up, my best friend's mom used to do it and swore by it. I did notice that it worked but I've never done it. Thanks for making me recall that. I'll have to do it next time I wash clothes. You can also referrence it at the web site http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/archive.htm. It is already on file there.
