Yes......... especially if she's responsible. If she is it will increase her maturity and responsibility even further.
If she isn't then ( I assume your her parent) be prepared (not with open arms) to take responsibility of the pet. If she probably won't always be so willing to look after it draw up a contract, ie. I will feed and water my hamster everyday, I will clean it's cage weekly etc.
Have fun with your (possible) new family pet!

I would think only if this 12 year old girl was responsible. If she knows how to take care of it and can afford the food and treats, litter, gives it attention, and basically has read up on taking care of it, then yes. I say go for it!

If she is responsible. Does she have temper tantrums and throw things ? You dont want to see flying hamsters :)

Work out what its going to cost, explain what she is going to pay for out of her allowance weekly for food and bedding.

Are you prepared to take care of it if she cant ?

Has she handled one at school or a friends ?

I think she is probably old enough.

Yeah, sure, if she promises to take care of them. If not, they get sold to a different family who will care for them.

That would depend on responsibility and if she deserves it.
