I refused to pay $5.50 for her name and $3.50 for each sports icon. It's already expensive enough! So is there some craft kit I can buy to imprint her name and year on the cover? It has a dark blue, textured cover. I am thinking something in a metallic-type of lettering. Any scrap-bookers out there? All ideas welcome. Thanks.

This could be a chance to make it special for her, as in "their fectory stenciling wasn't good enough and I wanted yours to be special." You could just stencil it and then paint over that with decoupage medium. For logos and sports icons, I have had good luck making my own stencils out of cardstock or stencil plastic.

Either use clip art or cut out designs from magazines or books. Then decoupage them onto the cover. The only cost is Mod Podge and perhaps a can of spray laquer, neither of which is very expensive.

Make sure you let everything dry throughly before apply the lacquer over the Mod Podge. A wait of a week or two is not excessive.

I've found polymer clay to be a pretty happy medium. You can find it in any craft store and you can bake it right in your oven... Then just glue it on. Google polymer clay if you want to see the different things you can do.
