Congratulations, Bunny! Best wishes and all that. My best advice when you're shopping for a wedding gown is not to fall victim to the "Instant Princess" falacy. That is when the sales clerks (who after all want to sell you the most expensive dress and as many accessories as possible) start to treat you and your mom like royalty and sell romance and style and all kinds of other intangibles. The moment you look at yourself in the mirror, the sales clerks want you to fall in love with yourself. Don't. Remember your budget, the theme of your wedding, the style of your relatives (my father refused point-blank to wear a tuxedo...that meant not even my husband wore one and my wedding was less formal than most), and what looks good on you.

First I want you to take two people with you. That way you have more than one opinion but don't take someone who is known to sway you from your opinion. Be true to your style. Also keep in mind that the salesperson at the store is a great source of information when it comes to picking out a dress too. When you try on a dress don't just think will it look great coming down the aisle. Think about going to the bathroom in this dress, making your way through crowds of family and friends at the reception and posing for pictures in the dress. An expensive dress doesn't really matter. I'll tell you what does matter: alterations. Be sure to ask the sales person which imperfections can be fixed by the seamstress and which things can't. Finally before you make any major decisions about picking your dress, leave the store with a Polaroid or some kind of picture and wait 24 hours. Do you find yourself sneaking peaks at the picture to see how awesome you look? Or do you notice the fact that you think that the beading is shotty looking? If you still love the dress a day later, then go back and get it. If not keep looking.

I was a bridal consultant for a while first when is your wedding ? you should start shopping for a dress at least 8 months before the big day . second you need to think about what color/style dress you want these are things you will be asked. something to consider when picking out a dress is what season and where your wedding will be (church/ outside) Formal or informal . If you are going with a church wedding you should lean more towards the formal side you could always wear something else to your reception. If it is an outdoor wedding you could still do formal but you would probably be very hot and uncomfortable there are a ton of web sites to look on to help give you an idea if there is one you really want print it out and take it with you the store may have it or something very similar. also be sure to bring a camera when trying on dresses so you can look at them when you get home it will help alot...hope this helps and congratulations

Don't freak out over sizes. Wedding dresses run small.
If you are a size six you might need an 8 or even 10. Likewise, if you are a 12 you'll have to try a 14 or 16.
Take a pair of heels with you. Have fun.

Don't stress about it. Even the most laid-back of brides can freak out when they go dress shopping. Just remember that the groom's going to think you're beautiful no matter what dress you're in. Hope this helps. :-) Have fun and congrats!

Don't buy the first thing you see.
Don't buy the cheapest thing you see - remember, this
thing potentially will be around for a long long time.
Enjoy the experience for its own sake, rather than
for a rush to make a decision.
