I hated when I had my irregular period and it mostly happened in school. I even leaked once, and yeah showed through my pants. Lucky for me, I was in an all-girls high. Otherwise I'd died of embarassment.
Anyway, if you have noticed, you're irregular perod has somewhat of a regularity to itself. I know ironice right, but it's true. For example, my period always happened a week +some days after when it was supposed to happen. Also a week or a few days before the period, I'd start getting period pain, & I mean really cramps & all. So that worked as a greenlight for me. You can keep track of it like that.
or just pay a little more attention to yourself. Mostly when you get irregualr period it's because you're stressed or malnutritioned [in my case i was mostly stressed over exams & such]. In these cases, make sure you eat the right and proper diet. Make sure you take a 30-min brisk walk everyday [in between cycles].
& if you can, please go to a gynae and get yourself a check-up. Trust me, you don't want to get crazy *** period pain and horrible cramps every time. And that does happen because of the irregularity.
Good luck! :)

How irregular is your period? Could you narrow it down to a week or so, and just wear the pad then?
I ask because when I was a young girl, my periods were very irregular and very long (not to mention painful). I went to the doctor at age 12 and the doctor put me on birth control pills... these will regulate your period and also shorten it to five days or so if it's very long. Sometimes young girls have hormonal imbalances for the first couple years after they start, and this is what causes them to be irregular. Luckily, the hormones straighten that right out.
Talk to your parent about going to the doctor, or if there is a birth control clinic in your area, they could help you. Good luck and best wishes!!!

You could wear two pairs of knickers to help prevent leaks - and nobody will notice anyway. You could start using tampons when you do come on and wear a pad aswell, just in case that leaks.
Your school should have some spare pads or tampons in the office anyway, don't be afraid to ask.
-- Never use tampons when you're not on your period and only use the one that's right for your absorbency.

Don't wear a pad, but bring one or two with you. I suggest buying these things called LiteDays which are like mini pads (MUCH less bulky and annoying to wear) so that you at least have something on in case you do get it in school.

well, sounds like your going to have to till it starts to regulate it self. get one of those light mini pads. like always. just a very thin one and have 1 or 2 of your regular pads or whatever you use on hand in case it gets worse. i'm sure it won't last long. go see your doctor if it doesn't. but it should. periods tend to be irregular when you are first getting them. like in the first couple of years

A good option for you might be to wear thinner pads, like playtex "Lightdays". You hardly know they're there, and they'll protect you from having any embarrasing moments. Just wear them until you have your period...and you don't have to change it all the time, either. Just once or twice a day.
When I started having mine, it took about two years to regular out, so don't worry, you're not alone. It's nothing your doctor should have to look at....but if you get concerned, you can still see him/her about it.

if you don't want to wear a pad, or get a leak on school days...wear an underwear that has a somewhat screen, like a double pad, to prevent leaks. I think Walcoal has that kind of underwear. Hope you solve your problem. :)

Wear a thick cotton panty as a precaution after 25 days of the previous period.

once you period comes on mark in on your calendar. Look for a pattern to see how many days apart until your next period. I hope this helps some, also talk with your doctor to make sure you are ok.

Get on Loestrin birth control, I am on it for my period being irregular...I have no side effects, and my period has no symptoms, it's not heavy, and lasts 4 days...You can get it from a gynecologist and you don't have to be sexually active to have birth control! It also has no co-pay :]
